Critical Voices 3 - Speakers - Details

Jerome Bel Jérôme Bel

Jérôme Bel lives in Paris and works worldwide.He studied at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine d'Angers. From 1985 to 1991, he danced with many choreographers in France and in Italy. In 1992, he was the assistant of Philippe Découflé for the opening ceremony of the 16th
winter Olympic games of Albertville.

His own productions are Nom donné par l’auteur (1994), Jérôme Bel (1995), and Shirtology (1997). This last piece was commissioned by Victoria (Ghent) and Centro Cultural de Belem (Lisbon). A Japanese version was made in Kyoto and Tokyo.

Then Jerome Bel produced The last performance (1998), Xavier Le Roy (1999) and The show must go on (2001). This piece also belongs to the repertory of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. In 2004 he premiered The last performance (a lecture).

For the ballet of the Opera National de Paris he made Véronique Doisneau (2004). For the Thai dancer Pichet Klunchun he produced Pichet Klunchun and myself (2005).
